NPCC Theater Department announces spring play auditions

The North Platte Community College Theater Department will host open auditions for its spring play next month.
The play, 鈥淧lan 9 from Outer Space,鈥 is adapted from the science fiction horror film of the same name from the 1950s that was produced, written and directed by Ed Wood.
The plot focuses on aliens seeking to stop humanity from creating a doomsday weapon that could destroy the universe. The extraterrestrials come up with 鈥淧lan 9,鈥 a scheme to resurrect Earth鈥檚 dead. The aliens hope that by causing chaos, humans will listen to them, and if not, there will be no choice but to destroy mankind with zombie armies.
鈥溾橮lan 9 from Outer Space,鈥 is the epitome of 鈥榮o-bad-it鈥檚-good鈥 cinema,鈥 said NPCC Theater Instructor Ritch Galvan, who will direct the play. 鈥淚t is an unintentionally hilarious sci-fi 鈥榯hriller鈥 from anti-genius Ed Wood that is celebrated for its staggering ineptitude. This stage adaption will be part homage and part mockery of the cult classic film.鈥
There are parts in the play for up to six men and six women ages 16 and older. Technical crew positions are also available. No previous acting experience is required.
Auditions will begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 in the McDonald-Belton Theater on the NPCC South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd. Those unable to attend at that time can contact Galvan at galvanr@mpcc.edu to discuss possible alternatives.
Rehearsals will begin Feb. 19 and continue through the performance dates April 2-4.
